Intramural Sport (IMS)

Internal leagues and tournaments – this popular box-leagues allow students to play competitively against players of a similar standard.

The University of Nottingham boasts one of the largest programme of intra-mural sport programmes in the country. Intra-mural sport is sport played between students of the University; teams are generally made up from halls, societies or just groups of friends. Each week there are over 230 fixtures and 3200 students playing in 12 different sports on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

How do they work?
– You will be put into a group with approximately 4 other players of similar ability.
– Each round will last between 2-4 weeks (details will be emailed at start of each round).
– You arrange to play each other in your own time.
– Just set a date and time and book a court at any of the Uni facilities.
– Upload the results to Top Tournament.
– If you win your league then you’ll be promoted – the challenge is to work your way to
the top of the tree!

The players who show the most commitment and progression throughout the IMS season will be eligible to be selected for the prestigious Tri Campus Games event. Each year the Tri Campus Games brings together students from the three University of Nottingham campuses (UK, China and Malaysia) to compete against each other in a week long festival of sport (usually after exams in June). TCG is a unique event within higher education, taking place at a different one of the University’s international campuses each year and involving nearly 200 student athletes from over 20 different nations. Underpinned by the ethos ‘friendship through sport‘, the Games offer a fantastic opportunity for sporting and educational exchange in the friendly spirit of competition.
